A Steamy Alexandria Morning

I've written before about how much I enjoy staying in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia whenever I travel to Washington, DC. I love running along the Potomac; there's nothing like the Mt. Vernon Trail first thing in the morning to give a girl both cityscape and wildlife in the right doses, and start the day off right.

But I've written all that already... so I'll keep this brief.

This morning -- a steamy one that left me soaking wet before the run was barely underway -- look at the wonderful creature I met along the trail! I stopped for a while to watch as this heron scanned the water, then poked between his or her feet to grab at a fish. Thank goodness someone had the foresight to set aside this important habitat, as the city was growing!

As the run came to a close, just before heading back upstairs to take a shower, I stopped by Misha's (around the corner from the apartment I'm renting) to pick up a soy latte. They aren't kidding when they say it's the best coffee you'll ever have!

Enjoy the day, friends, and see you on the trail!
